Scenarios

A scenario gives you a start, a time limit and objectives. Open Scenarios… from the main menu or the File menu, pick one to read its briefing, objectives and rules, and press Start.

Winning and losing

The Objectives panel (⌥⌘O) shows each objective with its progress, how many closings are left and how many in a row you have held, the scenario's rules and its news.

After the result you can Keep Playing on the same estate as free play, go back to the scenarios, or return to the main menu.

Stars and points

A won scenario earns up to three stars: one for winning, one for winning in the first 60 % of the time, and one when every objective beats its target by 25 %. Points reward winning early, beating the targets and a good reputation. Your best result per scenario is kept on this device (and in iCloud if you use it).

Events and rules

Scenarios can script events: news, a rush or a slump in demand, a grant for reaching a milestone, a fine for missing one, a change in the weather, or a fire. Some also set rules: rooms you may not build (their tools show a lock), a height limit, a loan limit, fixed rents, or no staff.

The tutorial

First Tower shows a tutorial panel on the left: the step to do now, with a link to the chapter of this manual that explains it, and the list of steps with a tick for each one done. The game starts paused, so you can build the first rooms in peace. Close the panel with its × and bring it back with the graduation-cap button in the view controls.
